A magnitude 6.6 earthquake occurred near the island of Simeulue, southwest of Aceh province in Indonesia.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the epicenter was about 45 km northwest of the town of Sinabung on the island of Simeulue.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of about 26 km, according to USGS. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
At the same time, the Indonesian Meteorological, Climate and Geophysical Administration (BMKG) clarified that the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 km and had a magnitude of 6.3.
After the earthquake, no tsunami warning was issued.
