An earthquake of magnitude 7 occurred in the state of Alaska in the United States.
As reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the tremors was in the Yakutat region in the southeast of the state.
The source lay at a depth of about 10 kilometers. No tsunami warning was issued.
Within an hour after the main shock, three aftershocks with magnitudes of 4.7, 4.7 and 4.1 were recorded in the same area.
There were no reports of casualties or damage. The epicenter area is sparsely populated.
