Ankara condemned discovery of monument “Nemesis” in Armenia

Turkey decisively condemns the establishment of the murders of political and military leaders of the Ottoman state in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, the monument to the perpetrators of the murders of the Ottoman state, as well as the statesmen of Azerbaijan in the early 1920s.

This is stated in the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry in connection with the opening of a memorial in Yerevan dedicated to the so -called Operations “Nemesis”, during which a number of political figures of the Ottoman Empire and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic were killed.

“We decisively condemn the opening of the Nemesis monument in Yerevan, dedicated to the perpetrators of the murders in the early 1920s of the Ottoman political and military leaders and Azerbaijani officials of that period and even some citizens of the Ottoman state of Armenian origin,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement by the Foreign Ministry .

“The discovery of this shameful monument glorifies a bloody operation, which opened the way to monstrous terrorist attacks, as a result of which 31 Turkish diplomat and members of their families were killed,” the department noted.

The statement emphasizes that how this event was covered by the Armenian media indicates that the “in the minds of some people” is still preserved by a distorted and unacceptable perception of history.

“Such provocative steps, incompatible with the spirit of the process of normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia, will in no way contribute to efforts to establish a strong and stable peace and stability in the region. On the contrary, they will negatively affect the normalization process,” they warned in Foreign Ministry of Turkey.

In Yerevan, on April 25, a monument was opened on the so -called Operation Nemesis, during which a number of political figures of the Ottoman Empire and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (Adr) were killed.
