The Stockholm authorities installed the Square “Square of Free Ukraine” in the city park of Mariebergsparken, which is located next to the Russian embassy, writes Dagens Nyhete.
The city hall noted that the plate that appeared is a symbol of Kyiv’s support from Stockholm.
According to the official representative of the City Hall Commission by the names of Christian Rusengren, the change in the names in the city is extremely rare due to the provisions of the Law on the Cultural Environment. “You cannot change the name if there are no good reasons, since this may have serious practical consequences for many residents and enterprises,” he said.
About the intention to give the corresponding name of the Park part in April. Then the mayor of Stockholm Anna Koenig Yerlmur said that the new name will become a “symbol of solidarity with the Ukrainian people”, and also emphasize the position in relation to the actions of the Russian authorities.
