Argentina President notified exit from BRICS

Argentina President Javier Miley officially notified members of Brix that his country was refusing plans to join the interstate association, local media reports.

Miles in his letter addressed to the member countries of the Brix group, said that “the inclusion of the Argentine Republic in Brix as a full-fledged member since January 1, 2024 was not considered appropriate by the government.”

The Argentine leader noted that the exit from the group BRICS does not mean that trade will not be conducted with these countries. Relations will continue, he said.

BRICS is an interstate association, the Union of five states: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa. Invited to join from January 1, 2024 Egypt, Iran, Argentina, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.

A group of BRICS countries, which accounts for more than 40 percent of the world population, is an international platform where the leaders of the member countries gather on annual summites and discuss global problems and mutual cooperation.
