Armenia is preparing for extraordinary parliamentary elections

Early elections to the Armenian parliament, prescribed after a long domestic political crisis, will be held on June 20. Political leaders conduct campaign among their supporters – before the onset of silence, three days remains, TASS reports.

Sociological surveys and opinions of experts show that on Sunday the main rivals will be the party of I.O. Armenian Prime Minister Nikola Pashinian “Civil Agreement” and the election block of the former President of Armenia Robert Kocharian “Armenia”. From the report of the Sociological Service of the Gallup company MPG, presented on Friday, it follows that Kocharyan’s forces and Pashinyan will raise almost 24% of the votes. Behind them should be the “honor” of the third president of Serge Sargsyan and the former head of the National Security Service of Armenia Arthur Vanentyan. In total, 26 election blocks and parties are involved in the elections.

The most active election campaign is conducted by Pashinyan, who took the vacation and visits all the largest settlements of the country. It meets with local residents and speaks to those who gathered together with his team members. Also, a fairly active election campaign leads the main opponent Pashinyan – Kocharyan. He also visited all major cities and settlements of the country.

According to the electoral code of Armenia, the country’s public television is required two days before the vote – June 18, to arrange a real-time debate, which will invite all the heads of parties and blocks participating in the elections. Despite the fact that Pashinyan has repeatedly invited its main rivals to take part in these debates, in all likelihood they will not take place. Kocharyan, as well as the first room in the list of the Blok “Honor,” Arthur Vanetyan and the first president, head of the Armenian National Congress party, Levon Ter-Petrosyan publicly refused to participate in the upcoming debates. Perhaps there will be representatives of their parties, however, it is not known whether Pashinians will want a debate with the main rivals.
