Armenian parliament is considering Oganyan’s issue

Armenia Parliament began consideration by the Prosecutor General’s petitions for the criminal prosecution against the former Minister of Defense of the Republic, the head of the opposition faction of Armenia, Seyran Oganyan, the Armenian media reports.

One of the applications will be discussed in closed mode.

In the first case, Oganyan is accused of participating in 2008-2009. On the sale of two military units in the Ararat region at prices below cadastral and market. Then he held the post of Minister of Defense.

The name of the reserve general Grigory Khachaturov also appears in the case. The investigation claims that it was he who was a true buyer of land.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan noted that Oganyan would avoid criminal punishment, even if it is found guilty, due to the expired statute of limitations, but the prosecutor’s office is not limited to criminal proceedings, a lawsuit will also be submitted for state protection.

“The goal is not only punishment, but also the return of state property,” she said.

Oganyan at any moment can find himself guilty, then there will be no need to deprive him of inviolability.

Oganyan held the post of head of the Ministry of Defense in 2008-2016.
