As Result Of An Explosion At Gas Station In Rome, At Least 40 People Suffered

As a result of the explosion that occurred on Friday morning, on July 4, at least 40 people were injured at the East of the capital of Italy – Rome at the A gas station in the East of the Italian -Rome.

According to the Italian Fire Service (Vigili del Fuoco), the explosion thundered on Gordiani Street at about 08.00 local time.

10 fire calculations were sent to the scene, the fire was promptly localized.

According to the information of the Italian ANSA agency, among the victims – both civilians and employees of emergency services, including firefighters and police. Medical sources report that there are no threats to the life of the victims.

Eyewitnesses said that shortly before the explosion at the gas station there was a gas leak, after which a fire broke out.

At the moment when the firefighters were evacuated, a powerful explosion occurred, windows were knocked out in nearby buildings. A thick black smoke, visible from different parts of the city, rose above the district.

According to police representatives, the explosion occurred during the procedure for draining liquefied oil gas (LPG).

For safety reasons, residents of nearby houses were evacuated, as well as children from a nearby summer sports camp. Due to the incident, the movement of trains on the metro C line was temporarily suspended.

Mayor Roberto Gauanteri, who visited the scene, thanked emergency services for their quick and well -coordinated work, noting that their actions helped to avoid more serious consequences.

The Fire Head of Lazio Annio Akvilino said that the incident, according to preliminary data, occurred due to a malfunction in the gas supply system and was in strength to resemble an explosion of bombs.

The prosecutor’s office of Rome began an official investigation of the causes of the incident. Italian Prime Minister George Melony in publication on platform X expressed solidarity with the victims, thanking emergency employees for courage and selflessness.

The spiritual leader of the Catholics of the Roman lion XIV also expressed his support, noting that he prays for all the victims and carefully monitors the development of events.
