Afghanistan, the power in which has moved to the “Taliban” movement, stands on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe. This was stated by the Coordinator of Humanitarian Assistance in Afghanistan on the UN Ramiz Alekbert, reports the UN website.
According to Alekbra, the main problem of Afghans is the lack of food – more than half of them do not know in the morning, will they be able to eat today. The country is in tight dependence on food aid from abroad, with which interruptions began after the arrival of the Taliban.
Despite the closure of the Kabul airport, the UN finds ways to deliver food to Afghanistan – on trucks from Pakistan or through Mazari-Sharif airport. However, food is still not enough: according to Alekbra, foods located in the UN warehouse in Afghanistan, only until the end of the month.
