Astana and Ashgabat agreed to develop corridor “China – Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran”

Astana and Ashgabat reached an agreement on the joint development of the corridor “China – Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran”. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

The relevant agreement was reached following the results of the first meeting of the Kazakh-Turkmen working joint group on the development of transport, transit and logistics in Ashgabat.

as part of the meeting, which was held under the co-chairs of the Vice-Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastaev and the Deputy General Director of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Annaev, the issues of cooperation in the field of transport, transit and logistics.

The working group positively appreciated the joint work on the formation of a flexible competitive tariff policy in the field of railway communication and agreed to continue working in this direction in the future.

Following the meeting between the two departments, a protocol and a memorandum of transport interconnectedness were signed.

The memorandum provides for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the field of railway and sea transport. In particular, it indicates the intentions to increase the volume of transportation in the territories of the two countries, including the creation of favorable tariff conditions, the adoption of joint measures to harmonize infrastructure and the implementation of digital decisions for mutual exchange of information.
