Astana and Riyadh agreed on visa-free regime for diplomats

Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia signed a bilateral agreement on the release of owners of diplomatic and service/special passports from visa requirements, the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

The agreement was signed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakaev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Abdul Majid Bin Raushev al-Samari in the framework of the Kazakh-Saudi intergovernmental commission. >

The agreement provides for the abolition of visa requirements for owners of diplomatic and official passports when entering a period not exceeding a total of 90 days every six months. The agreement will enter into force 30 days after the date of receipt on the diplomatic channels of the last written notification by the parties on the completion of the domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force.

It is noted that the provisions of this Agreement do not apply to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan with diplomatic and official passports and arriving in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to commit religious pilgrimage, since they should receive a visa issued specifically for such purposes. “Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry gives great attention and priority to national passports, and that our citizens can freely move around the world and visit foreign countries,” Bakaev said.
