Astana discussed state and prospects of development of Kazakh-Hungarian relations

Kazakh President Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev held negotiations with the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit, the press service of the Kazakh leader reports.

The parties thoroughly discussed the state and prospects for the development of Kazakh-Hungarian relations with an emphasis on strengthening political dialogue, deepening trade and economic cooperation and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.

In addition, the President of Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Hungary held negotiations in an expanded composition with the participation of official delegations of the two states.

“Kazakhs and Hungarians are related peoples, which have long been associated with friendly relations. The language, customs and culture of the two countries are similar. The descendants of the Kypshak tribes who moved to Europe from the Torgay steppes in the Middle Ages live on the territory of Hungary. We are proud of this. Thanks to our joint efforts, Kazakh -Hungarian integration develops dynamically in all areas, ”said Tokaev.

The Kazakh leader believes that there is a good institutional base between Kazakhstan and Hungary to further strengthen relationships. In his opinion, the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation and the business council should play an active role in the promotion of the development of trade ties.

“Despite the preserved geopolitical tension, last year our turnover grew by more than 20%. I am sure that we have all the possibilities to increase bilateral trade to $ 1 billion in the near future,” he emphasized.

During the negotiations, the parties expressed a mutual interest in developing contacts in areas such as energy, transport, logistics, metallurgy, manufacturing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food industry and tourism. In addition, the leaders of the two countries announced the importance of strengthening inter -parliamentary ties through friendship groups operating in the parliaments of the two countries.

In turn, Viktor Orban expressed gratitude to Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev and the fraternal people of Kazakhstan for a warm welcome.

Following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding in the field of education was signed.

Tokaev also handed the Prime Minister of Hungary to Viktor Orban the Order “Dostyk” I degree.

During the ceremony, the head of the Kazakh state noted Viktor Orban’s significant contribution to the development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
