Australia Imposed Sanctions Against 60 Vessels Of Russian “shadow Fleet”

Australian government imposed sanctions against 60 vessels included in the so -called Russian “shadow fleet”. This was stated by Australia Foreign Minister Penny Wong.

According to the minister, these vessels were used by Russia to detour international sanctions. According to her, they ensured the transportation of Russian oil and other authorized goods using fraudulent and opaque schemes.

Wong emphasized that this is the first time when Australia imposes sanctions against the Russian “shadow fleet”, and urged Moscow to stop the military conflict.

As claimed, Russia created the “shadow fleet”, consisting mainly of obsolete and technically unsuitable tankers in order to “secretly” transport oil and other goods bypassing Western restrictions.

Earlier, on May 20, the European Union approved the 17th package of sanctions, including measures against almost 200 vessels related to the Russian “shadow fleet” engaged in the transportation of oil.
