AZAL Plane Skidded Off Runway After An Emergency Landing In St. Petersburg

The plane of the Azerbaijani airline AZAL (Azerbaijan Airlines) rolled off the runway after an emergency landing in Pulkovo. This was reported on Monday, October 20, in the Telegram channel of the press service of Pulkovo Airport.

“Pulkovo Airport is temporarily not accepting or sending flights due to the plane rolling off the runway. Airport operations will be restored in the near future,” follows from the publication.

It is reported that the flight in Baku requested a landing at Pulkovo Airport due to an identified malfunction of the landing gear.

“The plane landed safely at 03:40. However, during the landing it rolled off the runway. Passengers and crew members were not injured,” the text says.

Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident

The North-Western Transport Prosecutor’s Office organized an investigation into the emergency landing of the plane at Pulkovo.

“According to preliminary data, the flight St. Petersburg – Baku made an emergency landing at Pulkovo airport due to a technical malfunction. The plane landed safely, but during landing skidded off the runway. There were no injuries,” says the publication on the Telegram channel of the prosecutor’s office.

The St. Petersburg Transport Prosecutor’s Office is checking the implementation of legislation on flight safety and compliance with the rights of passengers, the statement emphasizes.

The press service also reported that 9:43 passengers flew to their destination on a reserve plane.
