Azerbaijan And UAE Signed An Agreement On Comprehensive Economic Partnership

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met in Abu Dhabi with the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Muhammad Bin Zaid Al Nahayan.

As the message of the Azerbaijan presidential administration states, during the meeting of Aliyev and Al Nahayan it was emphasized that the relationship between Azerbaijan and the UAE, based on friendship and fraternity, are at the level of strategic partnership, political relations reached a high level, and trade and economic cooperation is developing stably.

During the meeting, the presidents discussed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with successful cooperation in the field of energy and renewable energy sources. The parties also considered ideas about future joint projects.

The cooperation between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the National Oil Company Abu Dhabi (Adnoc) of the UAE, as well as projects for renewable energy with the company Masdar, was noted.

The heads of state also affected the importance of the recently passed summit of the Organization of Economic Cooperation (SEC) in Hangkendi (Azerbaijan). Ilham Aliyev expressed appreciation for the participation of the UAE in this summit at a high level.

Following the meeting of Aliyev and Al Nakhayan signed an “Agreement on a comprehensive economic partnership between the government of Azerbaijan and the UAE government.”
