Azerbaijan and Ukraine doubled volume of transportation

In the footsteps of the meeting of the heads of two states, which was held in Kiev on January 14, an online conference was held between the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev and the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Alexander Kubankov.

During the online discussion, it was mentioned about a two-time increase in the number of transportation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine and an increase in the logistics operations of Ukrainian goods in the Baku International Trade Port of up to 162.4 thousand tons over the past year.

Both parties also noted the importance of cooperation in the framework of the Viking Combined Transport Train – from our country, “Azerbaijani Railways” participate in the project. Currently, tariffs applied by this project are similar to the tariffs applied by the route of the Trans-Caspian international transport route.

Ministers also discussed the situation of return frequency between Azerbaijan and Ukraine at the DetaMema level. It is worth noting that at the moment there are 7 flights a week between the airlines of the two countries. In this regard, an agreement was achieved between civil aviation authorities of Ukraine and Azerbaijan to increase regular flights for each route to 14.

A special topic of discussion between the two ministers was to cooperate on the TRACECA project. To implement the available potential and allow TRACECA to attract most of the transit cargo, it is necessary to improve cooperation in a number of issues, including harmonization of the crossing of borders and customs procedures and eliminating regulatory and procedural barriers to trade and transport. In this direction, work is already underway on digitalization in the Customs and Transport sector. From the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, the AYNA information system is being developed, within which the process of electronization of documents in the field of freight transportation will be held.
