Azerbaijan begins military exercises in Caspian

From today, the naval forces of Azerbaijan are proceeding with command-staff teachings in the Caspian Sea. According to the Ministry of Defense, the Tasks for the protection and protection of energy infrastructure in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will be carried out on the teachings with the participation of warships and naval special forces. They will take place until October 13.

The current exercises of the Navy of Azerbaijan are carried out against the background of growing tensions with neighboring Iran. Earlier, in early September, one of the stages of joint teachings of Azerbaijani and Turkish special forces were held at the Caspian.

Against the background of Azerbaijan’s military activity in Caspiana, Iran also tries to apply strength to the sea. Judging by the videos common in Telegram-channels, the Fleet of the Corps of the Islamic Revolution focused several thousand high-speed boats in the Caspian Sea. According to the video taken from the MEDIARESURS KSIR, they are all equipped with large-caliber machine guns. It is reported that the number of such boats exceeds 4000. Earlier, Iran used such small and high-speed boats to pursue and suppress US naval vessels in the Persian Gulf and Ormuz Strait.

At first glance, high-speed boats that have no weapons, except for large-caliber machine guns, cannot be considered a serious force on the sea. However, they can be used massively and suddenly for various sabotage operations, including attacks on oil and gas platforms.
