Azerbaijan Foreign Minister turned to UNESCO from UN tribune

“UNESCO still did not send a mission to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan to evaluate the damage caused during the period of occupation.” This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jahun Bayramov, speaking as part of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to him, Azerbaijan for many years urged Armenia to support UNESCO’s independent mission to evaluate and assist in protecting cultural monuments in the region.

“Despite the fact that the Armenian occupation of these lands was over in 2020, the UNESCO mission still did not visit these territories. And I once again publicly call for this mission,” Bayramov said.

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan noted that the level of destruction in the liberated territories clearly indicates the desire to destroy all the traces of Azerbaijan in these territories.

“For 30 years, Armenia conducted ethnic purges in these territories, illegally moving people there, which is a serious violation of international law,” added the head of the foreign policy of Azerbaijan.
