Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry: France, with its statements, encourages separatism

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan condemned the statements of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Catherine columns about the results of local anti -terrorism events held in the Karabakh region.

“The extremely irresponsible statements of the French minister are aimed at distorting existing realities in the region,” the press service of the country’s Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Azerbaijan held local anti -terrorist measures in its sovereign territory in order to prevent further military provocations and terrorist acts from illegal Armenian armed groups, which in turn fully complies with international law, including international humanitarian law.

“Instead of condemning the failure of Armenia, the Armenian armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as the military-political provocations from the leadership of this country, including the reckless congratulatory message of the Armenian Prime Minister of September 2, addressed to the puppet regime, For the past 30 years, France voiced claims to Azerbaijan over the past 30 years, and this, in turn, is nothing more than encouraging separatism and revenge forces within Armenia, ”said the Foreign Ministry

The ministry reminded that at the previous meetings of the UN Security Council, France’s attempts to push Azerbaijan were crowned into the background. Despite this, Paris once again attempted to use the Security Council to implement its short -sighted policy in the region, said the Foreign Ministry.

“Such initiatives are not only dangerous, but also do not contribute to peace and security in the region,” the department noted.

The Foreign Ministry believe that this, in turn, will make a positive contribution to the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“At the time when the practical implementation of the dialogue agreements between the officials of Azerbaijan and the Armenian residents of Karabakh, disarmament and demilitarization in the region, the international community, in particular France, should adhere to the norms of international law, which is based on respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of countries, ”the statement says.
