Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry is perplexed from statement of Lithuanian colleagues

The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, with which Azerbaijan has maintained extensive partnerships for many years, and which attaches particular importance to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of international law in interstate relations and always acts on these principles, is surprising, the head of the press service of the Foreign Ministry said Azerbaijani Aihan Gadjizade.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania on December 16 expressed “deep concern” with the “blockade of the Lachinsky corridor”, which, according to the statement, caused the “acute humanitarian crisis in Nagorno -Karabakh.”

“At the same time, this statement creates a misunderstanding in the context of various discussions held during the visit of the President of the Lithuanian Republic of Gitanas Nauceda to Azerbaijan in May of this year.

We remind the Lithuanian side that in Azerbaijan there is no territorial unit called “Nagorny Karabakh”. Just as Lithuania is no longer called the “Baltic” country, it is unacceptable to call the Karabakh economic district of Azerbaijan the former names formed during the Soviet Union.

The fact that the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry applies a biased and unilateral approach to the question instead of protesting against illegal economic activity, plundering natural resources, using the Lachinsky road both for military provocations, transferring mines to the territory of Azerbaijan. economic activity.

The peaceful and legal protest of the institutions of the civil society of Azerbaijan should be respected.

As for claims about the humanitarian situation in the region, we once again declare that the Azerbaijani side is always ready to meet the humanitarian needs of the Armenians living in our territories, and there is no need to intervene a third party to this issue, ”said Hajizade.
