Azerbaijan reported to UN Committee to eliminate racial discrimination

In Geneva on August 15-16, as part of the 107th session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, a periodic report of the Azerbaijani government was presented for the International Convention “On the abolition of all forms of racial discrimination”.

According to the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry, the delegation of Azerbaijan, which included representatives of the relevant state bodies, was headed by Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov.

During the presentation of the report, the deputy minister noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the relevant contractual bodies in the field of human rights. It was noted that Azerbaijan is a multinational country, information was provided about the effective activities of the Baku International Center for Multi -Culturalism in the field of promoting the values ​​of multiculturalism and preserving cultural, religious and linguistic diversity in the country, according to the message.

The deputy minister noted that the ethnic cleaning and occupation of Azerbaijani territories Armenia for decades have been the main obstacle to the implementation of the Convention. He informed about the work of Azerbaijan in connection with the return of forced immigrants to his native lands after the conflict after completing the conflict as a result of the victory in the Second Karabakh war of 2020, emphasizing that the purification of these territories from mines and unexploded ammunition is one of the priority tasks in this direction.

During the presentation of the report, it was emphasized that in a court decision on temporary measures in the case aroused by Armenia in the International Court against Azerbaijan, many appeals of Armenia were rejected, in a similar case under the claim filed against Azerbaijan against Armenia, the court required the adoption of an architect of measures to suppression of inciting and propaganda of racial hatred, the Foreign Ministry said in a message

The Committee noted that issues related to hatred statements in Armenia will be considered during the presentation of the periodic report of the Armenia Government.

The committee members positively appreciated consistent measures taken in Azerbaijan to maintain the values ​​of multiculturalism, tolerance and religious tolerance.
