Azerbaijan sent an interstate complaint to Armenia to European Court

Azerbaijan sent an interstate claim to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in connection with the refusal of Armenia to provide the appropriate maps of mined territories representing the danger to the lives of people on the liberated territories.

According to haqqin.az, this appeal will be the second interstate claim against Armenia and will strengthen the pressure on this country so that it complies with the obligations coming from international law.

Note that from the moment of signing a joint statement of November 10, 2020, which put an end to all military operations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan has repeatedly demanded from Armenia to provide cards of mined territories.

We also note that from the date of the signing of a joint statement, more than 120 people died or injured as a result of the undermining on the mines established by the Armenian side.

Despite the fact that within 200 days after the signing of a joint statement on the territories liberated from the occupation, more than 35 thousand mines were neutralized on an area of about 100 million square meters, the number of victims of mines continues to grow. The refusal to provide mini field cards is also hampered by the efforts attached to return after 30 years of internally displaced persons who were forcibly expelled from their homes as a result of the occupation of Armenia of our lands.
