Men’s team of Azerbaijan in Chess received an invitation to participate in the World Team Championship, which will be held from April 8 to April 13 in Jerusalem.
Our team will play in competition with the participation of the strongest teams of the world due to their high rating. Also in the world championships will take part: the host of the competition is the Israeli national team, the ranking leaders of the four continents – the USA, Russia, India and Egypt, another four best teams of the world by rating – France, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, as well as two prefabs that will receive Wild Card (Special Invitation).
Men’s team championships are held since 1985. The national team of Azerbaijan participated in this competition in 2009 (4th place), in 2011 (7th place), in 2013 (8th place) and in 2019 (7th place).
In the meantime, in Nakhchivan is nearing the completion of the Male Championship of Azerbaijan. Finalists are already known. The title champion is challenging Magomed Muradla and Misstdine of Iskender. Muradla in the semifinals defeated Vasif Durarbeyli, and Iskenderov – Aydina Sulemanly.
24 chess players took part in the championship. Note that the strongest grandmasters of Azerbaijan in the championship did not play.
Prize Fund of the Competition – 22 thousand manat. The winner will receive 8 thousand.
