Today in Slovenia begins the European Chess Team Championships, in which the national teams of Azerbaijan will take part.
The men’s team of our country went to the euro in the following composition. Under the leadership of Captain Elthaja Safarli, Shahriyar Mammadyarov will play, Teymur Rajabov, Rauf Mamedov, Gadir Huseynov and Nijat Abasov.
In the 1st round we will play with Italy. Shakhriyar Mammadyarov (2765) will meet with Daniele Vocaturo (2632), Rauf Mamedov (2673) – with Moroni Luke (2580), Gadir Huseynov (2665) – with Alacyio Valschichi (2527), Nijat Abasov (2536) – ). Teymur Rajabov 1st tour misses.
The Rating Favorite of the Male Tournament is the Russian national team (average rating – 2728). Azerbaijan (2717) on the 2nd place. In total, 39 male teams are involved here.
Composition of the women’s national team of Azerbaijan: Guenai Mamedzade, Gulnar Mamedova, Hanaya Balajeva, Ulvia Fatalieva, Govhar Bedullaeva.
Azerbaijani chess players will play with Turkey in the 1st round. Couples of this match: Guenai Mamedzade (2459) – Power of Jaglar (2250), Gulnar Mamedova (2359) – Buce Mind Kechigit (2034), Hani Balajeva (2369) – Gyleni Aydene (2114), Gogdem Onur (2281) 2015).
The women’s national team of Azerbaijan is the 5th rating (2383) after Russia, Georgia, Poland and Ukraine. In the women’s tournament, 31 team will play.
Recall, in 2019, our chess players became bronze commizers of the euro. And the men’s team of Azerbaijan has won the European Command Championships three times – in 2009, 2013 and 2017.
The current euro will consist of 9 rounds and will be completed on November 21.
