Azerbaijani President: Anti -Terrorism events will be stopped if Armenian formations lay down weapons

Azerbaijan will stop anti -terrorism events when the Armenian armed forces in Karabakh will lay down weapons.

This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

According to the presidential press service, during a telephone conversation, an exchange of views on the current situation in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan took place.

The head of state noted the facts of the early installation of sabotage and intelligence groups of the Armenia Armed Forces in Karabakh Ming for the purpose of terror, as a result of which civilians and police officers, as well as the shelling of the Azerbaijani army from mortars and multi-caliber rifle weapons, died.

Aliyev emphasized that these actions, including on September 9, are the so -called “presidential elections” in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, are a continuation of targeted provocations by Armenia and the so -called separatist formation against the sovereignty of Azerbaijan. >

Azerbaijani President said that in order to suppress such provocative and inflammatory actions, Azerbaijan was forced to begin the anti -terrorist measures of a local nature in the region.

The Head of State emphasized that during the implementation of anti -terrorist measures, the civilian population and infrastructure objects are not a goal, only legitimate military goals are destroyed.

It was brought to the attention that the administration of the President of Azerbaijan invited representatives of the Armenian population living in the Karabakh region to a dialogue to discuss reintegration, but they refused, nevertheless, in the course of the continuation of the anti -terrorist measures of a local nature, they were again invited To the dialogue. The head of state said that anti -terrorist measures will be stopped if the weapons are compared and the formation of the Armed Forces of Armenia will be disarmed.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed concern about the situation, called for the achievement of the ceasefire and said that the United States supports a direct dialogue between Baku and representatives of the Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region.
