Azerbaijani was elected deputy chairman of expert committee of Council of Europe

The head of the Department of Justice of Azerbaijan Adil Abilov was appointed to a high post in the Council of Europe’s expert committee. The election of the new management of the structure was conducted during the 80th plenary session of the expert commission held in Strasbourg in a hybrid format. It is reported by haqqin.az.

The event discussed innovations on the application of European conventions and precedents of the European Court, cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor’s Office of the European Union (EPPO) and other issues. Representatives of Azerbaijan held meetings with representatives of the United Kingdom, USA and Germany to discuss specific cases related to extradition and legal help.

As part of the meeting, new elections of the Committee’s management were held. His chairman was elected representative of Portugal, who worked in the organization for more than 10 years. At the same time, taking into account the effective work of representatives of Azerbaijan in the structure and their valuable contribution, the head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice Adil Abilov was elected deputy chairman.

We note that the Committee of Experts, which has been valid for forty years and unites experts from all 47 Member States of the Council of Europe, as well as observers from the United States, Mexico, Chile, Israel, South Korea and International Organizations, regulates cooperation in criminal cases , develops standards for solving practical problems and new directions and presents them to approval to the Ministerial Committee.
