Baku and Kabul discussed inter-parliamentary relations

Taking part in the second universal conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Economic Cooperation in Islamabad, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis Sahib Gafarov met with the Chairman of the People’s Public (Lower) Chamber of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Rakhmani.

In the Public Relations and Presses Department, Haqqin.az reported that the Chairman of the Milli Majlis noted the presence of Uz Friendship and Brotherhood between the Azerbaijani and Afghan peoples, adding that after the restoration of the independence of the relationship was reached on a qualitatively new level. The deepening of relations between the countries largely contributed to the meetings and negotiations of the heads of the two states, Sahib Gafarov said.

The speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament with satisfaction remembered how Afghanistan unconditionally supported the fair position of Azerbaijan both during the 44-day Patriotic War and at all stages already remaining the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. According to her, the Azerbaijani Party was highly appreciated by statements of the state structures of Afghanistan, including the Chamber of Elders and the People’s Chamber of the National Assembly of this country, expressed support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Sahib Gafarov expressed appreciation to a colleague and the people of Afghanistan for this right position and for the support provided.

Chairman of Volley Dzhirga Mir Rahman Rakhmani said, in turn, that today not only political relations, but also in other areas between Afghanistan and Azerbaijan are at a high level. Historically, the traditional friendship of our peoples occupies a special place in the process of deepening bilateral cooperation, Rakhmani said.

Inter-parliamentary relations are also developing, and mutual visits of deputies and their regular meetings within various international organizations allow you to discuss the disturbing issues of both sides, which is an important factor. As Rakhmani noted, the fact that delegations converge under the auspices of such structures as the organization of economic cooperation may give an impetus to the implementation of regional projects.
