Baku: Azerbaijan and Armenia are working on peace treaty directly

Today, work on the text of a peace treaty is carried out directly between Baku and Yerevan.

This was stated by Assistant President Azerbaijan Hikmet Gadzhiev in an interview with the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung, Azerbaijani media reports.

Thus, he answered the question of which format is the most effective: Azerbaijani-Armenian negotiations, 3+3 format with Iran, Russia and Turkey, or negotiations with the participation of the USA or EU.

“each format has its own advantages, and comparing their effectiveness would be incorrect. At different stages, different formats allowed us to move forward, and we are grateful to all the intermediaries involved in the process. The venue does not matter for us. The most important thing is the result . We advocate negotiations focused on the result. In principle, we are not against honest assistance, but we give preference to direct negotiations. Today, work on the text of a peace treaty is carried out directly between Baku and Yerevan, ”Gadzhiev said.

According to him, at the moment Baku does not see serious obstacles for concluding a peace treaty.

At the same time, the presidential assistant noted that it is difficult to talk about specific dates, since to complete the process it is necessary to conduct further negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “Honestly, I do not think that it is advisable to constrain yourself with hard terms, thereby working under the pressure of time,” he explained.
