Baku harshly answered Yerevan

Azerbaijani side expects consent from Armenia to hold the next meeting, and not provocative statements that damage the peace process.

This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Ayhan Hajizade, commenting on the statement of the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan that Baku has not yet responded to Yerevan’s proposals for the “text of a peace treaty”.

According to Mirzoyan, in December, Armenia did not participate in a tripartite meeting of the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At this meeting, discussions about a peace treaty were to continue. Nevertheless, he noted, Armenia presented the proposals of the Azerbaijani side and is waiting for an answer to them.

“taking into account that the initiator of the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including the signing of a peace treaty, is Azerbaijan, it is amazing that the Armenian side made such statements. I would like to recall once again that negotiations on a peace treaty are, as a rule, They are not conducted as it is represented by Armenia, ”said Hajizade.

He recalled that the text of a peace agreement was submitted by Azerbaijan to discuss October 2, 2022 in Geneva, and it continued in Washington.

“Despite the consent of the third meeting as a continuation of the negotiation process in Moscow, it was the Armenian side that did not take part in the meeting, which, unfortunately, violated the negotiation process,” Gadzizade said.

The representative of the AR Foreign Ministry emphasized that Azerbaijan is ready to sign a peace agreement based on 5 basic principles and hold the next meeting in a short time.
