Baltic Countries And Northern Europe Signed Statement In Support Of Ukraine

Foreign Ministers of the Baltic and Northern European countries signed a joint statement in which they expressed their readiness to continue comprehensive support of Kyiv as part of the Coalition of those who wish. This was reported by Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT).

The document was signed by the heads of the foreign policy departments of Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Germany, as well as a representative of France.

The document emphasizes that independent and democratic Ukraine is seen as “the basis of Euro -Atlantic and global security.”

At a press conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kasytutis Budris said that “without a firm world in Ukraine there will be no peace in Europe,” calling what is happening “key challenge” for regional stability.

He also noted that in order to achieve the “fair world” it is necessary to protect the so -called principles of international law, including territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

The parties agreed to maintain political, military and civilian assistance to Ukraine “as much as it will be required” – until “Ukraine is in the most strong position” to achieve a sustainable peace agreement.

Separately emphasizes the “need to strengthen pressure on Russia”, including the introduction of additional sanctions, as well as support for the European Union plan to reduce the import of Russian energy resources.

In addition, the participants expressed their readiness for coordinated actions to combat the so -called “shadow fleet”, which, according to them, is used to circumvent sanctions.

In this direction, close cooperation with the working group G7 is planned.
