Bayramov informed special representative of NATO Secretary General about situation on Lachinsky Road

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jaykhun Bayramov, accepted the special representative of NATO Secretary General in the Caucasus and Central Asia Khavier Kolomin in Baku, the parties discussed cooperation between Baku and Alliance, the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, as well as the situation around the Lachinsky road.

According to the information of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry, Bayramov noted that the constant political dialogue between Azerbaijan and NATO contributes to cooperation in various fields.

The Foreign Minister informed in detail the colomin about the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards the promotion of a peaceful agenda, about the military-political provocations of Armenia, teasing the peace process, about the still existing mine threat.

Information was also provided about the situation on the Lachin road. The Foreign Minister noted that the allegations of the alleged “blockade” of Armenian residents in the territories of Azerbaijan, the “humanitarian crisis” are unfounded and do not reflect reality, are aimed at concealing the facts of abuse of the Armenia of the Lachinsky road, which is intended for use only for humanitarian purposes.

The minister noted that, despite the unconstructive steps of the Armenian side, Azerbaijan is ready to hold the next meeting on negotiations in a short time and is determined to promote a peaceful agenda.

The special representative of the NATO Secretary General, in turn, expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan, including in the areas of energy security and education. He also expressed concern in tension in the region, said that to establish peace and security in the South Caucasus, it was necessary to continue the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
