In the border with Poland and the Lithuanian region, the national militia detachments were formed to ensure the safety of the movement of military columns, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus said on Saturday.
“In the two rural executive committees of the Volkovysk region (Gomel region of Belarus – Interfax), the national militia units were formed for the first time. The units perform the tasks to ensure public order during a comprehensive verification of the combat readiness of the armed forces, and also ensure the safety of the movement of military columns,” – The message says.
On May 3, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the next stage of a comprehensive verification of combat readiness of military units and units involved in response to crisis situations.
The audit takes place primarily in the military units deployed in the Grodno, Brest and Minsk regions. In addition to units from the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, special operations forces of the Armed Forces, operational commands, missile troops and artillery, security units were also involved. As noted in the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, within the framework of these events, it is envisaged to call for up to a thousand military liability.
