Bennet and Lapid agreed: Knesset will be dissolved

Israeli Prime Minister Naphtili Bennett and the alternative Prime Minister Yair Lapid concluded on Monday, June 20, an agreement on the early dissolution of the Knesset. According to preliminary data, the elections to the XXV convocation will take place in the fall – most likely, at the end of October, writes www.vesty.co.il.

In accordance with the agreement, before bringing to the oath of the new government, an agreement on rotation as prime minister will be observed. The transition government will head Yair Lapid.

Bennett will receive a post of alternative prime minister in the transition government, and will also be appointed responsible for the fight against the Iranian threat. This is a deviation from the terms of the rotation agreement, according to which Bennett, having lost the post of head of government Lapid, was supposed to lead the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The prime minister’s office reported that the agreement was reached after “numerous attempts to stabilize the position of the coalition.” Recall that the Bennett government, Lapida, who had one vote in the XXIV convocation in the XXIV convocation, was lost by the majority after leaving the deputy’s coalition, Silman (Yamin).

On June 13, another deputy from the party of Yamin, Nir Orbach announced his exit from the coalition. In conversations with close associates, he made it clear that he was acting in the direction of creating the right government without early elections. The contacts of Orbach and the Excellence received wide publicity.

In the absence of the parliamentary majority, the approval of laws proposed by the government and coalition parties became almost impossible.

According to Ynet, Bennett decided not to hold on to the premiere chair, called Lapid to an urgent meeting and informed him of his decision.
