Big Panda attacked zoo employee

Great Panda in the Belgian Zoo Pairi Daiza attacked an employee on Saturday, on March 20, he was injured, but there is no threat to life. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the institution.

For the reasons unspecified at the moment, an experienced zoo caretaker turned out to be “in direct contact with a four-year-old Panda Tian Bao in intended exclusively for employees of the corridor.” Animal struck the legs and hands.

“The rapid intervention of employees and visitors who were nearby, made it possible to move the animal without causing it harm,” said the representatives of the zoo. They added that the victim immediately had the first help, then he was hospitalized.

The administration of the zoo will have to find out the circumstances of what happened. According to the existing rules in the establishment, employees are prohibited direct contact with large pandas who have reached bilateral age, whose weight exceeds 70 kilograms. The Guide Pairi Daiza also reminded that this type of animals “does not accept the invasion of its territory.”

Pairi Daiza is one of the largest zoos in Europe, it is 60 kilometers from Brussels. It presents about seven thousand different animals.
