Bilstrom made an application for the press after the 5th meeting of a joint permanent mechanism created as part of a tripartite memorandum signed by Turkey, Sweden and Finland on June 28, 2022.

Having voiced his expectations from the NATO summit, which will take place in Vilnius on July 11-12, Bilstraem added: “We hope a positive solution to the issue of Sweden membership in NATO at this summit. This issue is completely dependent on Turkey.”
