In the capital of Kyrgyzstan Bishkek, the Forum “Genghis Aitmatov – the Future of the Turkic World” will be held, dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Kyrgyz writer Genghis Aitmatov.
The opening of the forum will be held at the Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan on June 10. Scientists, politicians and fans of the work of Genghis Aitmatov from Turkey and other Turkic states will take part in the event.
The forum will continue at the Kyrgyz-Turkish University “Manas” (KTMU) on June 11.
Professor Ilyas Topsal, the head and founder of the Institute of Genghis Aitmatov, who opened in Ankara in February 2025, will take part in his work.
In an interview with an anadol correspondent, he noted that the forum is aimed at serving the great vision of the future Turkic world. “
“This is not just a tribute to the memory of the great thinker on the anniversary of his death. This is also the support of the principles voiced by him regarding the Turkic world and his future,” Topsal said.
Genghis Aitmatov was born on December 12, 1928 in the village of Sheker (now the Talas region of Kyrgyzstan).
In 2008, on the eve of his 80th anniversary, Aitmatov went to Kazan to shoot a documentary “and the day lasts longer than a century.” The writer caught a cold on the set, the cold went into acute pneumonia, the kidneys began to refuse.
On May 16, 2008, Aitmatov on the plane was delivered to the clinic of the city of Nuremberg (Germany), but on June 10 of the same year he died.
