Following the emergence of the British and South African strains of COVID-19 in Austria, this country recorded the first case of infection with the so-called Brazilian strain.
According to the publication Salzburger Nachrichten, the first virus infected with this mutation was detected in Salzburg. Suspicions that the said patient has a new type of virus reportedly arose two weeks ago. Now the studies have confirmed that the patient really has a new mutation of the coronavirus, it is called “Brazilian” – it was in this country that the first cases of infection with this strain were recorded.
