Britain suspended help of Niger after military coup

The Government of Great Britain suspenses the implementation of long -term programs for helping Niger after a military coup in the country.

This was announced by the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry of the United Kingdom, Andrew Mitchell.

According to him, the UK fully supports immediate political and economic measures announced today by the economic community of Western Africa (ECOWAS), and will suspend the long -term assistance of Niger for development goals.

, however, we will continue to provide important humanitarian assistance to the people of Niger. Great Britain is a responsible partner of the democratically elected government of Niger, ”the statement said.

Britain also calls for the immediate return to the authorities of the democratically elected president of the country Mohamed Bazum, the statement said.
