Russia uses in the war against Ukraine Iranian -made drones, as it does not have superiority in the sky, says the British Ministry of Defense, published on October 12th.
“these unmanned aerial vehicles are slow and fly at low altitudes, which allows you to easily aim at them with the help of conventional air defense means. There is a real possibility that Russia has achieved a certain success, attacking several UAVs at the same time,” the summary says.
According to the British, despite the declared flight range of 2500 km, Shahed-136 carries only a small explosives, so it is unlikely to satisfy the function of a deep blow, for which Russia probably sought to use it.
“taking into account the fact that Russian tactical combat aircraft still have a limited effect over the territory of Ukraine, the absence of a reliable, sustainable and accurate shock potential of the operational level is probably one of the most significant gaps in Russia’s capabilities,” the military summed up.
