Canada: G7 Abandoned Joint Statement By Ukraine Due To US Objections

The joint statement of the G7 leaders planned on the issue of Ukraine was canceled after objections from the United States. It is reported by CBS News with reference to a senior Canadian official.

According to information, the official spoke to the press during the G7 summit, which was chaired by Canada in Cananian, Alberta Province. He stated that the United States opposed the inclusion of some wordings in the final statement, since this could “put their negotiations with Russia regarding the termination of the conflict.

In this regard, it was decided not to publish a separate declaration in Ukraine. Nevertheless, individual statements about the Russian-Ukrainian war will be included in the speech of the Prime Minister of Canada Mark Karney.

A joint declaration of G7 leaders, published by Canada and related to artificial intelligence issues, quantum economics, migrant smuggling, critical minerals, transnational repression and forest fires, did not contain mention of conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
