Car bridge between Azerbaijan and Iran has been laid

On October sixth, in the area of ​​the village of Agbend of the Zangilan district of Azerbaijan, a ceremony of laying the automobile bridge between Azerbaijan and Iran, borderline and consuming infrastructure, projects for coastal measures in the territory and construction work were started.

Work is carried out as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of the two countries on the creation of new communication ties between the East-Zangesur economic district of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchyansky Autonomous Republic through the territory of Iran.

The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, co-chairman of the State Commission for Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran Shakhin Mustafaev and Minister of Road and City Development of Iran, co-chair of the Iranian side of the Mehrdad Bazrpash.

The co-chairs emphasized that the created objects of automobile and border-border infrastructure will serve as an increase in transit cargo transportation through the territory of countries and facilitate entry-departure to the Nakhchyansky Autonomous Republic. After the construction is completed, the number of freight and other vehicles that can take a checkpoint on the state border daily, as well as a road bridge with seven lanes, will be at least 1,100 cars.
