Case “Kumtor”: ex-premiere of Kyrgyzstan arrested

Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Temir Sariev, detained in the case of corruption when implementing a project for the development of the Kumtor’s gold deposit, was imprisoned, Interfax reports with reference to the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.

“By the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek against Temir Sariyev, a preventive measure was elected in the form of imprisonment for the period of pre-trial production,” the court reported.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, Sariyev Waterworn in the SIZO of the State Committee of National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan until September 30.

Sariev served as the premiere of Kyrgyzstan in 2015-2016. From 2011 to 2015 was the Minister of Economics of the country. He was detained on August 3 in the case of corruption when implementing the project “Kumtor”. According to the GKNB, it has been established that Sariev, being Minister of Economics, has lowered the amount of environmental damage from the work of the Kumtor mine for several billion soms, as a result of which the state was caused by the coexist damage.
