Caspian countries abandoned export quotas for black caviar

Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran extended the moratorium on the commercial fishing of the sturgeon species of fish for 2023, it was also decided not to establish an export quota for black caviar for the next year.

As stated in the Rosrybolovs’ message, this decision was made during a meeting of the 6th session of the Commission for the Save and rational use of aquatic biological resources and the management of their joint reserves of the Caspian Sea.

Calls of sturgeon species of fish in 2023, as before, is planned to be carried out only for research purposes and for artificial reproduction.

Representatives of the Caspian states discussed the implementation of the Providence of joint aquatic biological resources, the main results of scientific research on the state of stocks of commercial species, as well as the work of countries in artificial reproduction and fish preservation.

We recall that in 1992 an interagency commission on the aquatic biological resources of the Caspian Sea began, and in 2014 an agreement was signed in Astrakhan on the preservation and rational use of the waters of the Caspian Sea. The commission was created to implement an agreement on the preservation and rational use of the aquatic biological resources of the Caspian Sea of ​​September 29, 2014.
