Chess Olympiad: Azerbaijan beat Algeria and UAE

Today, the 44th chess Olympiad began in Indian Chennai.

In the 1st round, the men’s team of Azerbaijan played with Algeria and won with a score of 4: 0. On the first board, Rauf Mammadov played today, on the second – Gadir Huseynov, on the third – Vasif Duhurbeyli, on the fourth – Nijat Abasov. The leader of the team Shakhriyar Mamedyarov 1 missed.

Recall that Teimur Rajabov, due to illness, refused to participate in the Olympics.

In the women’s tournament, Azerbaijan plays with the UAE and has already won. Account 3: 0. Hanami Baladzhaev, Gulnar Mammadov and Ulvia Fataliev won their parties. The party with the participation of Govhar Badeullaeva is still ongoing. And here is also the first number of the team – Gunai Mammedzade – did not play in the 1st round.

In total, 188 male teams and 162 women’s the chess Olympiad participate. The competition will consist of 11 rounds and end on August 9th.
