“Children’s hotline”, working with support of Azercell, for 5 months accepted more than 2000 calls

Providing conditions for the development of children in a healthy social environment is one of the main conditions for building a bright future of our country. Unfortunately, in each society there are children and adolescents who are faced with pressure, harassment and violation of rights. The activities of the Children’s Hotline service, which operates more than eleven years with joint cooperation Azercell, UNICEF in Azerbaijan and the public association of Social initiatives Ümidli Gələcək, is aimed at providing free assistance to children encountered with various problems in society.

From the first day of creating a service, its employees support children who have problems with peers, need psychological and moral assistance, and also help them adapt to the social environment.

From January to May of this year, the service responded to 2386 appeals related to issues and problems in various fields. Most calls (793) affected education theme. For 5 months, 481 subsidiaries related to the specialists of the hotline were received. The remaining appeals concerned psychological (340), social (236), medical (137) and other (399) issues.

Not only children, but also their parents, as well as relatives are applied to the “Children’s Hotline”. So, in the period from January to May, 1772 calls from persons over 18 years old, and 506 from children and adolescents. For help, 1203 female and 1075 male faces appealed. Anonymous appeals to the service through social networks were also. In connection with the appeals received by the hotline, over the past 5 months, meetings were organized with 34 families, and 94 social and psychological rehabilitation were organized.

It should be noted that during the first 5 months of this year, the “Children’s Hotline” service in Azerbaijan organized webinars and live broadcasts. Live broadcast on the topic “Psychological and physiological aspects of adolescence”, webinars for adolescents and young people on the themes “Let’s put an end to suicide!” And the “sense of loneliness” caused great interest among users of social networks.

During this period of time, training for children and adolescents were organized on the topics “clinical interviews” and “Organization of social work and rehabilitation with children and their families.” The Zoom Platform also held a 10-day international training to combat abuse with children with the participation of the “Children’s Hotline”. Also at this time, various information campaigns were held on social networks.
