Nine-meter meter tunnel with a diameter of 15 meters on a military-Georgian road towards Russia began to build in Georgia, the Russian newspaper “VIEW”.

Build a tunnel will be China Railway Tunnel Group Co, Ltd (CRTG), it will be built on the Sktcheti section – Kobe (this is the north-south corridor). In general, the project for a total value of about $ 400 million implies the construction of a 23 kilometer long distance, five bridges and five tunnels. Construction will be completed in 2024. The publication notes that it is important for Armenia, which transports cargo on this road.
Premier Georgia stressed that it will be the largest tunnel in the Caucasus and in its parameters unique in the world.
The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as the Government of Georgia.
