China does not intend to take any special steps to bypass Western anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by journalists director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Lutun, Interfax reports.

“We will not do anything specifically bypassing the US and West sanctions in relation to Russia,” he said at a briefing dedicated to the SMR-European Union Summit.

At the same time, according to him, China’s normal economic cooperation with other countries should not be addressed. He noted that Europe continues to trade with Russia, so the sanctions should not concern and ordinary trade relations of China with Moscow.

Diplomat recalled that China is not a party to the conflict, it contributes to the development of world trade and consistently opposes the application of sanctions.

Wang Lutun noted that the PRC has always advocated all conflicts through negotiation and consultation, Beijing welcomes Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. According to him, China should not overestimate the possibilities of China in providing influence on Russia – do not think that if Beijing appeals to Moscow asking for the cessation of hostilities, she permits him.
