China expressed concern about the possible closure of the Strait of the Ormuz Strait against the backdrop of an exacerbation of the situation after the US attacks on Iranian nuclear objects. The PRC authorities emphasized that ensuring security in this strategically important region meets the interests of the entire international community.
Speaking at a regular briefing in Beijing, the official representative of the Foreign Ministry of the PRC GO Jiakun recalled that the waters of the Persian Gulf and adjacent areas are a key route for world trade in goods and energy resources.
“Closing the Strait of the Strait will have a negative impact on the entire world economy. Stability and security in the region are a common good for the entire international community,” the diplomat noted.
GO also called on world powers to activate efforts to reduce tension in order to prevent even more economic and political chaos in the region after American blows.
About 45 % of oil imports to China is carried out through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of the Ormuzian Strait.
