Christina Wormut will be first woman as Minister of Army US

The Senate of the US Congress on Thursday unanimously approved the candidacy of Christina Brumut to the position of Minister of Army (Ground Forces) of the country. Voting broadcast was carried out on the site of the upper chamber, TASS reports.

In the near future, the 52-year-old Wormut, which will be the first woman as Minister of Army, will be shifted.

When administration of the 44th president of Barack Obama, she held the post of deputy minister of defense on political issues. Wormut also worked in the Council of National Security (SNB) of the White House. Prior to that, she was also an expert of the Washington Center for Strategic and International Research.

The Ministry of Army is part of the US Defense Office. The head of the ministry is responsible, in particular, for the material and technical support of American land forces, as well as for financial resources available at their disposal. The Ministry of Air Force, Navy and Ground Forces US are not members of the Presidential Cabinet.
