CIS summit started in Astana. leaders of countries are discussing issues behind closed doors

A meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS is being held on Friday in Astana. The presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan take part in it.

At the opening of the forum of colleagues, the owner of the summit was welcomed by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev. The first meeting takes place in a narrow composition behind closed doors: only the leaders themselves take part in it. Later, a meeting in an expanded format will take place – with the participation of delegations.

Russian media reports that on the agenda of the summit of the theme of integration interaction in politics, economics, the humanitarian sphere, further development of trade and investment partnerships within the CIS, security issues. At the meeting, a decision will be made to launch the work of the CIS Human Rights Commission.

It is assumed that an agreement will also be reached on the receipt of the CIS status of an observer under the CSTO. In general, a solid package of joint documents was prepared for approval at the summit.
